The band that stands before you known as Morne started with many trials and tribulations. It began back in 2005, and even though there were many interested individuals, only one lineup had the dedication and perseverance to make the band a reality. The band features Milosz (ex-FILTH OF MANKIND) on guitar, Jeff (ex-DISRUPT, GRIEF) also on guitar, Max on bass and Kevin on drums (both from various Boston bands). Morne draws it's influence from powerful, intense bands such as AMEBIX, NEUROSIS and SACRILEGE. The undertones of these bands can certainly be heard in Morne's sound, but they create an atmosphere all their own. A pair of powerful hardcore punk bands from Sweden team up for a split LP, offering up high energy music that has the classic style down, but done with modern twist that keeps it totally interesting. BAMN starts out with a basic D-beat backdrop, but keep addign unique twists and turns, so that by the end of their album side they sound like a completely different band. BLACK STAR RISING also have that classic d-beat sound down, but veer way off the beaten path with interesting tempo changes and two vocalists who work well together. Most of theof the lyrics and inserts are in English (critical of the system and stupidity in punk) and gives one the impression they're heading towards the same path as DS-13 before them. Good stuff. -

This is the second full-length release from COUNTDOWN TO ARMAGEDDON, a 3-piece based in Seattle, WA whose sound originated in apocalyptic crust and progressed into more melodic, post-punk territories over the past eight years of their tenure. Thick layers of reverb and chorus-effected darkwave riffs, sometimes reminiscent of early KILLING JOKE or AMEBIX, weave in and out of the lines between punk, hardcore, and d-beat crust, while retaining a unique identity in each of the eight tracks on the album. Lyrically this album addresses the conflict between the artificial and natural worlds, and the struggle to preserve humanity in an increasingly digitized and bleak dystopian future. Through a reconnection to nature the path toward destruction can be altered, and thereby escaping the psychological constraints of the modern age. Recorded at Buzz or Howl Studios by Stan Wright (Arctic Flowers) in Portland, OR, and mastered by Jack Control (WB2D) at Enormous Door Studios in Austin, TX.
