Due to some artwork complications and changes, the vinyl pressing for Nux Vomica’s Asleep in the Ashes full-length had been delayed for several weeks, and as all issues are now resolved, production will begin!  The vinyl release will feature a gatefold jacket (amazing artwork by Jason Angst), and some insanely colored vinyl for the initial press.   Everyone who pre-orders will be able to purchase the record at a discount, as the retail price will go up to $17.99 when the album finally arrives.  Thanks to all who pre-ordered, and, as you still have a few weeks to do so, anyone who pre-orders the record gets a free CD copy of the album as well!  We are really excited to be unleashing this album in April, and would like to thank everyone for waiting patiently, and we are convinced it will be worth the wait!!

Nux Vomica – Asleep in the Ashes (Aborted Society)

“Melodic death metal/Crust”? i thought Metal Archives was putting me on when I first looked up Portland-by-way-of-Baltimore’s Nux Vomica, but as soon as the first plaintive chords and hushed vocal samples on ‘Asleep in the Ashes’ gave way to the ominous tones, frenzied d-beats, and tortured screams of twelve-minute epic “Corpses With Egos,” I knew I’d stumbled across something special. Nux Vomica effortlessly combine the best bits of doom, crust, psychedelia, post-rock, black metal, and, yes, melodic death metal to create something achingly honest, and entirely their own.

Kevin Hannigan was the drummer of WAKE UP ON FIRE, and one of the most sincere and awesome people I’ve ever met.  My time spent with Kevin was always short and few and far between, but he was undoubtedly one of my favorite drummers and a true genius.  He will be dearly missed, and our hearts go out to his family and loved ones.

It was an honor for us to put out a record for his phenomenal band.

09/28/2008 – The new releases are now available, after a bit of a delay at the pressing plant. Pre-orders for Order of the Vulture ship out Monday, and all three will be available through our regular distributors. Thanks to everyone who placed pre-orders and waited so patiently for them, it’s much appreciated!

For those who may be unaware, there are limited color vinyl versions of both the
Wake Up On Fire / Nux Vomica split 12″ and the Order of the Vulture “Death Disciple” LP available only through mailorder from us. Black vinyl will be available through distros and stores.

01/03/2008 – Quite a lot has happened in the past couple months, sorry about the lack of updates but we’ve undergone some changes lately and things have been delayed. We are excited to start production on two CD releases for ORDER OF THE VULTURE; the first being a CD version of the s/t LP we released along with the ‘Christ Killer’ 7″, and a bonus version of the song “Iconoclast.” The second is the eagerly anticipated follow-up full length to their first LP, entitled Death Disciple. Both releases will be coming out in late winter/early Spring so keep your eyes peeled! Also in the future will be the long awaited ANAEROBA LP/CD, which we just received materials for, a NUX VOMICA / WAKE UP ON FIRE split LP, as well as future plans for a 57 OCTAVES BELOW release, who feature members of both NUX VOMICA and WAKE UP ON FIRE. There’s a lot going on and a lot up our sleeves, so for now please enjoy reviews of NUX VOMICA, MEISCE, and BLACKOUT on their respective release pages. Cheers and Happy New Year!
