We are absolutely gutted to hear the news last night of Kleister’s passing. Before we started working directly with Skuld Releases and Ruin Nation in 2012, Kleister’s label and work was a tremendous influence on the formation and direction of Aborted Society. He raised the bar on what a DIY record label could be, and worked tirelessly supporting the punk underground for the past 20 or so years. The BEST albums of the international hardcore punk/crust underground in that time came out on Skuld, no doubt about it. Even after having the label office raided about a decade ago and having his world turned upside down, he still persevered and refused to give up his vision. We had the honor of working with him on the Countdown to Armageddon release “Through the Wires,” and although our personal relationship was short in tenure, I feel fortunate to have been able to get to know him a little through phone calls and writing.
